This morning we started out very early, and head off to watch Aidan play baseball. They won... 8-5... Aidan got 2 runs... He has become a great player... It was cold... We loved watching them anyways...

This is a weekend that the kids are with their "other" parents, so Kevin and I have the entire 3 day weekend to ourselves. After the game we headed to the coast to pick up my "office" recliner.  From there, we decided to just head off to the beach.  I love York Beach... I NEED York Beach... It makes me feel happy... Even on a day like today that was 55 at the coast and cloudy, and drizzling, and chilly...  and gray...

We stayed about an hour. Walked down the beach... Put my feet in the sand... Normally I have to have my toes in the water, but can you tell how cold it was there? Ya... That's why I opted for the 'dry-foot' version of the day. For the first day of Memorial Day Weekend, it was incredibly empty, so we were able to get a prime parking spot, right on the beach, at 3pm.

Man, I love this place! After I took some pictures, we walked up to The Goldenrod. They still make homemade, hand pulled Saltwater Taffee. We walked up the boardwalk. We broke down and bought caramel popcorn and recess peanut butter cup popcorn. Then we came across the most incredible thing I have EVER seen. A white and milk chocolate dipped twinkie! There's no picture of it thanks to my husbad who ate it in less than 2 minutes. lol. And no, I didn't get any, thanks for asking!

On our way home we stopped in Concord so I could get my nails done. Kevin likes this, because next door is a cigar shop, so while I get my nails done he enjoyed a cigar. Win:Win! Then we headed home. Mom told me to stop by on our way becasue she had a surprise for me. She had stopped by our local yarn shop with a friend for their 25% off sale. The Elegent Ewe is located next to the cigar shop! How funny is that! Anyways... I got to mom's house, gave Dad the chocolate dipped devil dog we got in Maine to surprise him, and mom gave me this bag of celery green Debbie Bliss yarn! 1000 yards! LOVE IT! Now I just have to decide what to make from it! Any suggestions?

We pulled in to the driveway, and I spotted the most incredible blooms. So tiny... hidden... such little treasures.

In my side yard we have gabillions of Lady Slippers (yes, that IS a number, I checked with my kids) If you've never seenthem before, they are members of the Orchid family, and pretty rare. I have hundreds along my driveway. The conditions have to be perfect for them to grow. Apparently my unkept side yard, with all of the unraked dead and decaying leaves make the perfect place for them to grow... Who am I to ruin that and pick up a rake in the fall... What I won't do in the name of botanical beauty...

The mosquitos were eating me alive, so I only got the 2 pictures. I love you all, but didn't feel contracting West Nile Virus was worth getting the picture. LOL! I will take more tomorrow when it's sunny and I have my DEET on!

Here are my strawberries. I have billions of blooms. I hope I get to the strawberries before the country critters do. Need any strawberry plants? My mom has TONS! Let me know, I'll bring you some!

Now I am off to enjoy a movie... Babylon AD... with my hubby, and to knit on my periwinkle sweater. Tomorrow Kevin plays Bongos at church. I have been told by a reliable source *wink, wink* that it is a great set.

What an incredible, impromptu day! Made even more special because my husband had a great day, too! Enjoy your evening!

It sounds like a day in paradise for you two. And you'll think of something to do with that Debbie Bliss yarn, you just wait and see. And yummy to the strawberries.... let's hope the critters stay away and you'll have an abundance of yumminess. Have a wonderful weekend! ADORE the beach pictures! (I wanna be there, too)
