Well, The kids and I went to meet my Dad and the cousins (who were visiting from DC for 2 weeks at York Beach. This is my Dad just hangin while the kids all played in the sand.

Picture
Why is it I can NEVER get a picture of kids being normal?

"We always hang in a Buffalo Stance. We do the dive every time we dance..." (I love Neneh Cherry!)

Picture
I have been sewing this cute little dress and a jacket for Katie to wear for her European Adventure with her Gramma and Poppa. Katie picked out the fabric and pattern at JoAnns whle we were there a bit ago

Picture
She was really afraid I wouldn't get it done in time, but I told her to be like George Micheal, and ya "Gotta have faith, faith faith!"

Although I am afraid I am "No -No_Notorious" (Thank you Duran Duran) for leaving things til the last minute.  But, I have it almost all done and I still have 3 days!

I am super excited! Last week I contacted Jaclyn over at Snap, Crackle, Pop, and she will be featuring one of my necklaces this week in her online auction! Her auction benefits her brother, who has autism, and is held every year on his birthday. Click over now and see all of the fabulous items that have been donated. I amnot sure which day this week my necklace will be featured, but you can bet I'll blog y'all with a link when it goes up.  On that note.... I now have my webstore all stocked and ready for your browsing and purchasing pleasure! Go check it out! I also take custom orders.

Today I did tons of errands, but after we got home around 4:30, I started in on making some pickles. My mom has a CRAZY cuke plant that it making these MASSIVEcukes! This one gave me 2 jars of pickles.

Picture

I made 7 jars of my Great Aunt Sadie's Sweaty Cheek Pickles, with 2 1/2 cukes! lol! YA! Who's ya mama!

Picture

SO... BEAUTIFUL.... MUST.... EAT... NOW!!!!!!!

Picture

These are brining in the fridge for the nigth to become Onie's Bread and Butter Pickles.... YUM!

And, just because I am a Janet Jackson kinda girl, I'll leave you with this.... "No, my first name ain't Baby. It's Janet, Ms. Jackson if your Nasty!"

Summer has gotten crazy! Why is it that I am busier now than when the kids were in school? Kevin has been traveling a lot for work, so I have been doing "projects".  I have torn apart both kids rooms, and redone them  - the decided to switch rooms, so I needed to take all of their hardware down, take down borders, fill holes, and paint. Aidan went off to camp on July 5th, and I jumped in. Here are a few pictures of the process...

It took 2 full days just to pull all of the things out of Aidan's room to get it started for Maddy. My Dining room looked like an episode of Hoarders! Needless to say, I donated more than 10 big lawn bags of things from his room, and threw out just as much. And now it is this awesome yellow green Maddy room.
Maddy's old pink room went much quicker, and my mom came over to help me finish it up. In 2 days Maddy and I emptied out 6 bags for donation, and another 5 or 6 to the dump. We took down everything from the walls, patched up a big hole from where her shelf got knocked down, and got to painting. Aidan chose the color Brown TeePee by Behr.

Both kids love their rooms, and I am glad, because I am not doing it again for a while! It took 4 days, but it's all done now...

Picture
I am teaching Katie to sew - we are making a dress for her trip to Europe. This is her first time cutting a pattern...

Picture
Maddy has been at band camp mornings for the last 2 weeks, which ended in a fabulous concert at Beech Hill Farm.  My Grammy came to see it, along with my mom - here you see us all (Aidan, my dad, Maddys dad and Kevin all came, too, but this was a much better picture with just us Jones Girls... 4 generations!)

Picture
Then, this weekend... We were incredibly blessed to be Honorary Pit Crew Members for JR Motorsports - we were in the pits and garages all day! I will do another post with just that - I got over 30 autographs... Best Day EVER! (And yes, that's Jeff Gordon!)

Picture
So Kev has been traveling quite a bit for his new position as Regional Manager. Most recently he survived a trip to TX... I had to stay here, so there is only this one photo of him in his cowboy gear. All of the managers stayed on a dude ranch. DUUUUuuuuuude! I asked for him to bring me home wither a pair of cowboy boots or a great hat. What does he bring me? A cookbook! hmmmm.....

He is cute, though... I think I'll keep him...

Picture
We got all dressed up for a wedding this past weekend. But did we get a picture of everyone? heck no... I apparently was NOT on my game. You can tell it was a day after my Remicade, and I was pretty out of it. But I DO think Maddy and I look mahhhhhvelous! We went to the wedding because Katie was in it. And I didn't get a single good picture of her. She was all "I'm 13, and you are not taking my picture", so the following is the best I could get...

Picture
We went to see fireworks on Saturday, we found a great little spot to veiw them, in the parking lot of a laundrymat. It will heretofore be known as "our awesomely secret fireworks spot". Here are some shots of the wait... And just to prove I was there - Marcy feet!
Picture
Today I sent my kid off to camp. He chose to go to church camp - with his friends from Impact Youth Ministry. He will have 5 days of worship, bonding and firends. I am praying that the Lord do a great work in Aidan and all of the teens who chose to spend a week of summer in His Word. I can't wait to hear what he has to share when he gets back. Aidan had wanted to go on the missions trip this summer, but decided to wait until next when he is a bit older. I am very proud of his choices.

Picture
I am NOT, however, very proud of his room! While he is away at camp I am going to be tearing everything out of his room and painting both his and Msddy's room. They will be switiching rooms by the time he gets back. We picked the paint out 2 days ago... I'm gonna need a lot of caffiene to make it through this one... I'll keep you posted...

Picture
Did someone say caffiene??? This is my first attempt at making the Perfect Ice Coffee concentrate by Pioneer Woman. It looks fantabulous! and simple! You take a pound of coffee, and pour in 2 gallons of cold water. Let it sit on the counter for at least 8 hours, then strain. Keep in the fridge, and when ready for a cool, refreshing glass, pour over a glass of ice and add cream and sugar. YUM! And, for only $9 for a pound of Dunking coffee, we have at least a weeks worth of iced coffee. At $2.50 per medium from DD, we are looking at a HUGE savings! I'll keep you posted on this, too.

Picture
It's summer here at Marcaritaville! The kids are out of school, camps have started. Trips to the local pond as well. Today was the first day nice enough to go swimming at Kimball Pond. The great thing about growing up in a small town is that you can still find a lot of the people you grew up with at the pond - with their kids. I was a lifeguard here. I taught this year's lifeguards how to swim! How crazy is that?!? It was today that I realized I was a lifeguard at Kimball Pond 22 years ago! MAN! I'm old!

Picture

What have I been up to? Glad you asked! Well, Fathers Day came and went... My Dad came over and helped Kevin start to tear down the front deck.

Picture

While Katie was restacking our woodpile, she came across a family of little mice. She FREAKED OUT! She did a very good job, restacking all our 3 piles from the winter into one small pile.

Picture
Our first strawberries were ripe, and picked! So flippin yummy! I pulled one off the stem, and was halfway through eating it when I remembered I am on a stinkin new diet where I can't have sugar - NO FRUIT! GAAAAHHHCK! So the kids picked the strawberries and ate them. P.S. Who is so twisted that they tell someone they HAVE to do this special diet RIGHT at the beginning of summer - with all of the fresh fruit and icecream? I mean... WHO! GHAAA! The upside is that my Crohn's disease is really getting under control, so I guess I should shut my mouth!

Picture

Our little tiny cherries from our wheeping cherry tree were ready too! So good! Maddy loves them! She has checked them every day waiting for them to be ripe. How cute are they??

Picture

The wheeping Cherry was given to us by Kevin's Dad  aka Poppa. The day after we planted it, the kids and I went to You're Fired (a local pottery place) and painted this little tray - It lives in front of the tree during the summer, and in the shed when the snow falls. It is dirty in this picture, but I have washed it off.

Picture

It was also a day of a major right of passage. Kevin taught Aidan how to ride the lawn tractor and mow the lawn. The torch has been passed. The whole process was fun to watch. Kevin walked along like an expectant father!  There were some uneven patches, there were some unmowed strips, but Aidan did it all by himself.

Picture

While all of this was going on I got most of  my anniversary quilt cut out. I am in love with the poppies. Mom and I have adapted it from a twin sized quilt I saw at my local quilt shop.

Picture

And then THIS happenned, and brought all my progress to a screaching hault! a week of no knitting, no sewing, no using my hand! How did I do it? Well, glad you asked. Kevin, Maddy, Aidan and I were playing baseball, and I accidentaly caught the baseball instead of hitting it with the bat. STOOOOOOPID! I am finally not wearing the brace anymore, but I can only knit for about 30 minutes before it hurts too much. *sad face*

Picture
Anyways... I now return you to summer... Days in the sun... Summer camps... Playing outside... cookouts... Floating along in the cool waters while the sun warms whatever is above it... So, Enjoy!

Picture
20 pillow cases complete and ready to ship for ConKerr Cancer. After the Girl Scouts had their overnight, I only had a few left to finish up, then I washed and Ironed them, so they are all now ready to send off to CHaD in Lebanon. If you are interested in helping out in any way with this wonderful charity, go visit www.ConKerrCancer.com, or message me and I can get you in touch! With just 2 yeards of fabric you can make 2 pillow cases and help 2 children! (All in about 30 minutes!)

Picture
I also finished my Love Me or Leaf Me bag! I had such a productive day!

This bag came from the creative mind of Karen over at
Tygerlily. She has some wonderful knitting patterns available for purchase... I may have to try her cable bag next.

What else have I accomplished today? Well, glad you asked! I washed and ironed the remainder of my quilt fabrics (They came in the mail yesterday). I also have Maddy registered for Field Hockey Camp. So..... It looks like all I have to do to accomplish that list is get my quilt cut out! YAY! (I have made the executive decision to hold off on the yardsale until next weekend)

So... What's next? Well, tomorrow I am getting my haircut! It's been since September for me. Then this weekend is not only Father's Day, but Kevin's birthday as well. I have a couple fabulous surprises up my sleeve.... Shhhhhhh Don't tell!

Picture
I started my day off at Valvoline - getting my oil changed. The oil change turned into an inspection and a couple other things. Which translated into a bit over an hour of sitting. While sitting I had an OMG moment when I realized I had slept through my dentist appointment this morning! lol! OOOOPS! I just realized right now that I never called them! Can you remind me tomorrow to call them? Ya, thanks!

Picture
It's a good thing I ALWAYS try to keep a knitting project with me where ever I go. I was able to take my hour of sitting at Valvoline and knit up to the point of my pockets. So... now we interrupt this 25 rows to bring you inset pockets! 10 inches across 31 stitches on size 6's.

Picture
Then it was off to Sun City to get my tan on. I HEART TANNING! IT makes me feel good! It makes me tan! It makes me happy! And by some random coinsidence, JoAnn's is RIGHT next door! Right? yup!

So I went over to pick up another 2 skeins of purple yarn for my vest, and whilst I was there I saw the big ole sign that said that Simplicity was only $1.99! YUPPA! I gots me some patterns! I'll fill you in on those another time.

Picture
Then, because pattern browsing is such a time consuming affair, I had to haul my buttocks back to town to get Aidan out of school for his appointment. (Don't you just love his hat? He's a hat kinda guy. I love that about him!) This particular hat was bought while Kev and I were in Panama. Aid is accumulating quite a hat collection, and he wears them all.

From there we went to TJ Maxx and got my ever-growing giant some shorts that fit. And then we went to Hannafords for some groceries. Then home... phew!!!!!

Picture
Where I cleaned my table! Isn't it great!?! Oh... maybe I just THOUGHT about cleaning my table. hmmmmm..... Where's that table-cleaning-fairie when you need her?

I guess I'll get to that tomorrow!

Picture
First off... The LIST! The problem with making a list is that you eventually have to get it all done, and once it is written I always end up with more things that I need to get done. So then I start my internal debate as to whether or not to add these things to my list so I can cross more things off. I love crossing things off.

Picture
Today I spent the afternoon doing something off-list. A BIG something, so I may have to add it to my list... Just so I can triumphantly cross it off! lol.

I went to visit Suki at her long-arm shop called The Dancing Crane. Suki is a long-time family friend. When I told her I had made my first quilt, she very graciously offered to long arm it for me. When I called her today to set an appointment with her she said come right over! YAY! I dropped everything and went. What an operation! This is seriously the coolest thing I have ever seen.

Picture

So, I left my baby with Suki.... Bye my precious bundle! I will see you when you are all pretty!

Picture
What did I accomplish FROM my list today? So glad you asked! I washed and dried all of my fabrics for my quilt, and I have completed 10 of the 25 rows I wanted to get done this week on  my purple sweater vest. I seriously may love this fabric even more now that it is all washed up!

Picture
Did I mention that both Maddy and Aid had playoff games? Maddy had hers Sunday, Aid had his tonight. They both won. So, and I am not sure how this happened with all of the possible scheduling variations, but... They both have their next playoff games on weds night.

While I was at Aidan's game tonight, Kevin was enjoying a guys night in Boston. He left about an hour ago, so that gives me roughly 30 more minutes to iron my quilt fabrics before he gets home, and that will be one more thing I can check off my list for today.

What's on tap for tomorrow? Not a lot from my list... I gotta get the oil changed in the van, and get Aidan from school early to go to his counseling. Then tomorrow night is his bass lesson. I figure what  I will miss out on for time on my list, I will be able to make up for with knitting.  Maybe I can sew the side seams of my leaf me bag. YA! Great idea! Remind me to get that ready to travel with me tomorrow... Thanks!

Picture
While at my local yarn shop - The Quilted Thread - I finally came across the perfect quilt for our bedroom! I fell in love with it instantly! When I asked about the pattern I was told where I could find it, but that I shouldn't be too attatched to the poppies as it had been out of print for 2 years. Thus started my mission! I bought the pattern book, and have finally found all of the fabrics... more on that later...

Picture
My mama (on the right) had her birthday. I told her it would be fun to spend the day knitting with some friends. She agreed, and here you see mom with her cousin. We knit for a few hours by the fire place. Such a perfect way to spend a birthday. (forgive me, Mom, I know the picture isn't the greatest)

Picture
Maddy got some great new clothes for summer as a present from her Aunt (my sister). We love new clothes!

Picture
Mom and I spent a couple hours last weekend teaching Maddy's girlscout troop to sew. We made pillowcases for Conkerr Cancer. Conkerr Cancer is a fabulous program whose misson is to ensure every child undergoing longterm treatment has a brightly colored pillowcase for their hospital pillow to cheer up their stay. If you would like to help out, visit their site to locate your local chapter.

Picture
Katie finished her collection for Project Hope 2011. Her goods will be donated this week to the shelter. So proud of you, Katie!

Picture
Maddy had her Spring Concert. It was Super GOOD!

Picture
I wrote my To-Do list for the week. IT got long quickly. I got mad at it. I forgave it quickly, though, because it was written on my new journal from Karen over at Journal Junction. A cute journal can do that, you know.

Picture
As promised... here is more on my beautiful fabric...

Mom bought the fabric for me for a combination of my birthday and my anniversary with Kevin. I am still waiting for 4 more small cuts that I found elsewhere.

I found all of these beauties in an online shop called
Grand Bazaar Fabrics. When I found the first few on her site, but not the others, we called and they were soooooo friendly and helpful. They had just come back from several shows, and were still unpacking their fabrics. They were able to help me find the fabrics I was looking for. She shipped them THAT day, and I got them 2 days later... LITERALLY! TWO DAYS LATER! That was their standard shipping. I am so happy with their service, and their prices were better than a lot of the others I had checked out. Fabulous!!!

Picture
This print here is why I absolutely HAD to find the Michael Miller Poppy line!

Picture
Here's my progress on my purple sweater vest. So many rows... I hate small needles!

Picture
I've been so busy this week that my couch has missed me... I looked over one day and it was smirking at me...

Please tell me you see it, too!

If it starts to talk to me, I promise I will seek help!

Picture
We spent last night at Aidan's baseball game. I spent most of the night trying to get pictures of the girls running around playing, as only girls can do, on a perfect pre-summer night. I snapped about 40 photos before they were on to me, and then it became a game...

Picture
This is probably my most favorite picture I have taken in a while. SCATTER! Girls giggling and screaming as they run. Makes me look forward to summer.

Picture
...then Aid got home...

Picture
...girls got snacks...

Picture
...I took these things...

Picture
...Did this...

Picture
... To make these...

Picture
I know... You're welcome!

Picture
This is what happens when you ask your daughter to pick up all of the acorns off the lawn in the spring... And she stands in one place for 30 minutes... then looks around the ground for another 10... then brings the wheelbarrel over and throws them one at a time across the lawn... then you yell at her and tell her she will stay out there until they are ALL...PICKED...UP! ...and then give up because it's late and you just want to start the movie already... Ya, I filled an entire wheelbarrel with all of our little baby oak trees. (anyone want a tree?). Then Kevin mowed the lawn.

That was the extent of our weekend... That and watching many movies while staring at the big TV in a vegitative state.

Picture
I sewed together this really super cool and beautiful pin cushion. My first attempt at the blanket stitch. Cute, tight?

Picture
I also knit to double the size on my footstool on size 19 needles (I now hate size 19 needles, just in case you were wondering.), and did 3 more rounds on my pretty layering vest.

Picture
This is the pattern I am using for my purple vest. It will be many, many, many rows of knit, knit, knit. But it will be pretty!

I hope you enjoyed your long weekend. We did.
