Ready for this? These each took me about 10 minutes MAX to make! I have been watching other bloggers "up-cycle" things for a while, but always with younger kids clothing.

This week we have had a clothing emergency. Maddy has had a sudden growth spurt - in the hips! (gasp!) So our well planned yearly clothing pass down from Katie to Maddy will NOT work!

What's a mom to do? Well, I took some old polo shirts and made them into dresses for Maddy! The best part is that we bought these fro Old Navy 3 years ago for less than $2 a piece. Kevin wore them for a year, and for the last year and a half I have been wearing them for sleep shirts or work shirts. They were in the Goodwill bag...

I found a sundress that fit Maddy really well, and that she liked, and used it for my template...

I cut around the sundress, being careful to leave the top shoulder seams, and the neck seam, and the hem. I also left the very bottom of the side seams sewn to preserve the little flap detail.

Then I just turned it inside out, adn sewed straight up the sides. Because it is a knit, I didn't even finish off the arm holes.

Voila! And she hasn't taken it off since.

Then it was on to the skirt from my old tank...

I took a very old and out of date tank top that I used to love (again, from the Goodwill pile)

And cut off the very top so I could get as much length as I could from it.

Measured an elastic around Maddy's waste, and stitched it to the top...

Lickety slick! 2 rows of stitching and I was all done!

Skirt from a tank top! She loved it, but not enough to take her shirt-dress off  long enough to try it on! lol.
